Subway Canada launches two Caribbean-inspired rice bowl recipes
Subway Canada has introduced two new rice bowls to their menu: Jerk-Spiced Chicken Rice Bowl and Jerk-Spiced Steak Rice Bowl inspired by Caribbean cuisine.
The Toronto Raptors basketball team collaborated with Scottie Barnes and Chris Boucher to create new dishes that reflect the players’ heritage and taste preferences. The dishes are now available across Canada.
The new rice bowls follow the success of Scottie’s “Bowlway” menu in 2022.
Scottie Barnes grew up loving jerk chicken, one of Jamaica’s most popular dishes, thanks to his Jamaican dad.
Scottie’s Jerk-Spiced Chicken Rice Bowl is made of banana peppers and rotisserie-style chicken, whereas Chris’s Jerk-Spiced Steak Rice Bowl includes steak and cheese. Both bowls are garnished with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, crispy onions, and a jerk aioli, resulting in a delicious blend of flavors and textures.
Chris Boucher shared his thoughts on the importance of maintaining a competitive edge through a healthy diet, stating that the food he eats plays a massive role in achieving this. To that end, he has always relied on Subway as a go-to option for a quick, complete and delicious meal. The launch of this partnership is being supported by a campaign that includes TV spots featuring Scottie and Chris.
Subway Canada is launching a new campaign that features a nationwide contest to find “Canada’s Most Ballin’ Bowler”. The winners of the contest will get a chance to bowl with the Raptors stars and attend a game at Scotiabank Arena. Lisa Mazurkewich, the marketing head of Subway Canada, said that they decided to highlight Scottie’s passion for bowling since he is an avid bowler and has won the Barnes family bowling competition three times.
Mazurkewich mentioned that the fast-food chain is dedicated to modifying its menu to cater to the preferences of Canadians and provide distinctive experiences with NBA celebrities. The brand has launched new Caribbean bowls that are available for dine-in, takeout, and delivery through the Subway Canada app and other delivery services.
